What is IDTexas™ by REAL-COMP?  IDTexas™ is a compilation of Texas databases that allows a user to search for, and verify information on people, motor vehicles, driver's license, real property, and telephone numbers. The flagship databases are the Texas Motor Vehicle Registration file, and the Texas Drivers License file.

Both the Texas Motor Vehicle Registration file from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDot), and the Texas Drivers License database maintained by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), are updated every two weeks. Over 1,000,000 changes per week!

Users can initiate searches by partial name, or partial license plate. The use of wild card (*) searches are plentiful and robust. Searches by name, for example, can be further qualified by address, city, zip code, and other powerful filters to quickly narrow down your choices.

Permitted Use: These databases cannot be used for marketing purposes! In order to use these databases, your company or organization must certify in writing that it qualifies as a permitted user as defined by Texas House Bill 1544, the Texas Department of Transportation, and Public Law 106-69, which amended the provisions of 18 U.S.C. § 2721, known as the Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA). Who generally qualifies as a permitted user?

  1. Any insurance company or agency for the purpose of verifying information given to purchase insurance, used in underwriting or in the daily conduct of your business (except marketing).

  2. Any law enforcement office and agency, such as Sheriff's Departments, FBI, city police, etc.

  3. Any government agency, such as a municipal court system, needing the information to perform it's mission.

  4. Any towing company for notification of owner's of towed vehicles.

  5. Any private investigator who needs the information in the general course of their business.

  6. Universities, schools, building management, hospitals, or any other entity that needs to verify vehicle ownership or driver's license information for verification of information or notification of owner's of towing, parking ticket charges, etc.

  7. Banks, Credit Unions, and financial institutions for asset verification and skip trace purposes.
